ECI to announce poll schedule for general elections on March 16; Model code to come into force

HYDERABAD: Election Commission of India (ECI) will be convening a press conference on March 16 at 3 pm. The ECI will be announcing the election schedule for general election 2024. Along with Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission will announce the schedule for the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha.

The Government of India appointed two Election Commissioners -- Sukhbir Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar -- on March 14 and the Supreme Court of India, whcih heard a case regarding their appointment on March 15, refused to stay their appointments.
