Giridhar Gamang, many Odisha leaders join BRS in KCR’s presence

The BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister welcomed the senior politician and the Odisha contingent into the party’s fold

HYDERABAD: Former Odisha chief minister and senior BJP state leader Giridhar Gamang on Friday formally joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Hyderabad. The BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister welcomed the senior politician and the Odisha contingent into the party’s fold when they called on him at Pragathi Bhavan. KCR felicitated Gamang and others with shawls and party scarfs.

Besides Giridhar Gamang, his son and former MP Hema Gamang, Shishir Gamang and Shaurya Gamag were among the others who joined the BRS. Besides them, BJP Yuva Morcha Odisha wing general secretary Shehranjan Das, AICC Member and Youth President of Koraput Parliamentary constituency Rabindra Mohpatra, Phalguni Sabar, P Gopal Rao and Malya Ranjan Swain also joined the new national party.

Giridhar Gamang has recently met KCR at the latter’s residence and expressed his desire to be a part of the BRS endeavour in national politics.

Giridhar Gamag was the chief minister of Odisha from February 17, 1999 till December 6, 1999. A long-time member of the Congress party, Gamang was elected to the Lok Sabha nine times. In 2015, he resigned from the grand-old party to join the BJP.
