HYDERABAD: The City Civil Court of Hyderabad on Wednesday gave interim directions in the defamation suit filed by MLC Kalvatuntla Kavitha, restraining the respondents from making any defamatory statements against the petitioner.

City Civil Court's 9th Additional Chief Civil Judge has also issued notices to respondents, BJP MP from Delhi Parvesh Verma and former MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, in connection with the case. The judge, in his interim directions, stated that the respondents should not make any defamatory statements against the MLC either in print, electronic and social media or through any other medium. Later, the case was posted to September 13 for next hearing.

Mohit Reddy is arguing the case as the counsel of MLC Kavitha. In her petition, Kavitha claimed that the respondents levelled baseless accusations against her. By issuing baseless statements, the respondents caused irreparable damage to her reputation among the public.

Mohit Reddy, in his arguments, contended that the accusations received widespread coverage in the media because the respondents are members of a national party. The counsel for the petitioner also furnished video evidence of the BJP leaders making the allegations at a press conference on August 21. Petitioner Kavitha sought court directions to the respondents for tendering unconditional apology.
