BADANGPET: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has played a significant role in the bifurcation of Telugu states, said Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Addressing a huge public meeting in Badangpet on Monday, Rajnath Singh said, "As national president of the BJP party during that period, I demanded a separate Telangana for rapid development of the State.

"Telangana Chief Minister KCR should not take sole credit for the formation of Telangana because the BJP party also played an important role in the formation of a separate State. If anyone deserves credit for the formation of Telangana, it should go to the youth who played a vital role in the struggle for a separate State.

“In 1984 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won only two seats and one seat is from Telangana by Janga Reddy and the other is from Gujarat. After 27 years, today Gujarat stands as a model for the development. In Telangana why is development confined only to some parts of Hyderabad and why not at other places? Telangana is currently considered as one of the backward states and it is due to the BRS party and its Chief Minister KCR, " Rajnath Singh added.

“I want to ask KCR why the development is not there in the State, who ruled for two terms. There are people who are hard working. Telangana has become a private limited company. People made you Chief Minister but not your family. Everyone is abusing power and there is a lot of corruption. KCR, can you tell there is no corruption? The discussions on your corruption has reached New Delhi. Your son will not survive without power."

Training his guns against Congress, Rajnath said, "Now, the Congress party, which has done nothing for Telangana State, is attempting to gain power here, but the Congress party has cheated the people of Telangana State. The Congress party had agreed to grant a separate Telangana State after pressure from the BJP. Our late leader Sushma Swaraj had advocated a separate Telangana State during those days in Parliament."

The Union Home Minister said that the BJP under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee had successfully created three states - Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh – without any problem and they were progressing well. He said that the Congress has failed to address problems while forming Telangana.

He added that ‘State First' was the people’s agenda but for KCR, it was family first. Stating that Etala Rajender came out of the party because of this issue, the Union Minister said that a lot of amount was spent to defeat Etala in by-elections as if the Chief Minister himself was contesting the elections.

"The Narendra Modi Government has been ruling for the last nine years, but I can confidently say that there have been no corruption allegations against the BJP government to date. We sent a large sum of money from Delhi. If we send 100 rupees to Telangana, barely Rs 14 reach the people of Telangana. If you vote for the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ensure that every cent reaches Telangana's residents, " said Rajnath Singh.

"The KCR regime has failed to generate employment for the youth, despite promising unemployment generation in the last decade, and paper leaks have further exacerbated the situation which clearly shows the inefficiency of the BRS ruling party," he added.

“What happened to your promises KCR? What happened to the employment? Examinations are being conducted but paper gets leaked and they will get cancelled. KCR must apologise to the people in this regard,” he said and wanted to know for how many Dalit families three acres of land was given and for how many families Rs. 10 lakh assistance was given. He also asked whether we can tell there was no single leader without corruption in the BRS.

Telangana people desire a Government that prioritizes their citizens' well-being, not just their families, as focusing solely on family is not acceptable, said Rajnath Singh.

Looking at the crowds at BJP public gatherings in Telangana State, it is apparent that the BJP party will form a government in Telangana State Assembly Elections 2023, he added.
