HYDERABAD: A 'coordination' meeting at the Congress party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, turned violent when party workers began exchanging blows during a review of the campaign for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.

The meeting, held to assess the progress of the campaign, was convened by AICC Secretary Mansoor Ali Khan on Monday and attended by the Congress candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency Waliullah Sameer.

According to sources, tensions escalated when some leaders criticised the lack of campaign activity in the Karwan and Malakpet Assembly segments. The discussion quickly became heated, leading to serious allegations and ultimately to a fistfight. Efforts by Mansoor Ali Khan and Waliullah Sameer to calm the situation were unsuccessful.

A video of the incident, which quickly circulated on social media, shows Congress leader Osman Al Hajri intervening to prevent two agitated individuals from attacking another person. He is seen slapping and pushing them away. Sources indicate that the two men slapped by Al Hajri were his own sons, whom he restrained from attacking another Congress leader whose face was unclear in the video.

As the commotion continued, Congress candidate Waliullah Sameer left Gandhi Bhavan and proceeded with his scheduled roadshow in the Yakutpura constituency.

Congress leaders have remained tight-lipped about the incident.
