AMARAVATI: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Friday appealed to the public to choose their leaders based on their track record. He continued his visit to the mandals that were merged with Andhra Pradesh due to the threat of submergence from the Polavaram project.

Speaking on this occasion, he claimed that the state was already seeing the ill-effects of not choosing their leaders wisely. In an indirect attack on Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, he said that the public life was severely disrupted after a person, incapable of ruling, was handed the reins of the state.

Naidu said that the problem of the five merged villages was temporary and promised that the TDP, once back in power, would provide a permanent solution. Chandrababu questioned why Jaganmohan Reddy gave a false promise of giving Rs10 lakhs to the families displaced by Polavaram when he was aware that he could really not compensate them in the first place. Naidu dared the YSRCP MPs to tender their resignations on this matter, saying that this is the only way the state could exert pressure on the Centre.

Chandrababu also found fault with the YS Jagan government for only disbursing Rs 2,000 for the flood victims. He said that it was an utter failure of the government to leave the victims to their plight and demanded that the compensation be enhanced. Recalling the chief minister's comments that he would fight for the Special Category status, the TDP chief termed YS Jagan as fake and that the YSRCP would be swept out of power.
