Police detain BRS leaders amid protests at Cyberabad CP office
Police arrested BRS leaders, including Harish Rao and Vemula Prashanth Reddy, outside the CP office.
HYDERABAD: Tensions flared outside the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate office when police arrested BRS leaders demanding the arrest of Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his followers for attacking the residence of BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy.
The arrested leaders included Harish Rao, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Vaddiraju Ravi Chandra, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. They were taken to the Shamshabad Police Station.
The BRS leaders expressed strong objections to the release of MLA Gandhi, demanding that a case of attempted murder be filed against him. Harish Rao threatened to approach the court if Gandhi was not arrested.
The protest followed an attack by Gandhi's followers and Congress workers on BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy's residence. They threw eggs and tomatoes at his house, damaged the windows, and assaulted BRS workers with chairs. The police intervened and arrested Gandhi at the scene.
In response to this attack, BRS leaders gathered outside the Cyberabad CP office, demanding the arrest of those involved in the assault on Kaushik Reddy. Harish Rao, along with other BRS leaders, vowed to continue their protest until the attackers were arrested. They also demanded the immediate suspension of the CI and ACP, accusing them of encouraging the attack.
During the protest, police forcibly arrested several BRS leaders, dragging them into vehicles. Harish Rao reportedly fell and injured his hand while the police attempted to detain him.
