HYDERABAD: Tension erupted at Gandhi Bhawan on Thursday when Telangana Congress leaders began squabbling in front of AICC General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, who came to Hyderabad on behalf of the party high command.

Osmania University NSUI leaders argued with PCC General Secretary Anil Kumar at Gandhi Bhawan about how senior leaders such as former TPCC President Uttam Kumar should be chastised. The argument between the two intensified, resulting in an altercation, and they grabbed each other's collars.

Digvijaya Singh, a senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP who arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday to address the Telangana Congress crisis, met and heard from all senior TPCC leaders.

Digvijaya Singh met with CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka as well as senior leaders Damodar Raja Narasimha, MLA Seethakka, MLC T Jeevan Reddy and others. Some of them under the aegis of Bhatti Vikramarka had announced a boycott of Congress party programmes at Gandhi Bhavan.

Digvijaya Singh also met Bhuvanagiri Congress MP Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, who told him about the developments in the state Congress party in the last 20 months.

He said that he had informed Digvijay Singh about the state of affairs in the Telangana Congress. He claimed that they had discussed everything that could not be revealed. Komatireddy said that he had given some suggestions for the party's development.

Jeevan Reddy said that all issues could be discussed at the party platforms. There were differences among leaders. Instead of coming out in the open, they had better discussed the contentious issues internally.

Seethakka, who had quit the party post given to her by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, however, made it clear to Digvijaya Singh that she wouldn't withdraw her resignation. The anti-Revanth group blamed the TPCC president for inducting many leaders who had joined the Congress from the TDP.

Digvijaya Singh is likely to address the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday at 11 a.m.
