2014 Analysis

The TDP secured victory in this Assembly constituency. The TDP's triumph in the L B Nagar Assembly constituency can be attributed to the significant electoral influence of Andhra voters.

Manchireddy won the constituency by defeating an independent candidate who had previously rebelled against INC before the 2014 Assembly Elections.

2018 Analysis

In the 2018 election, Machireddy of the BRS narrowly won the seat with a slender margin of 376 votes. The fierce competition between the INC and the TRS led to a close battle for the Assembly seat.

Manchireddy, the incumbent MLA, transitioned to the BRS before the elections, resulting in the BRS's first-ever victory in this constituency.

Former District Congress Committee(DCC) president Kyama Mallesha joined BRS the before elections and publicly criticized the INC, accusing the party of demanding money from candidates for ticket allocation.

His entry into the BRS helped garner votes from BC communities and his own cadre. Malreddy, who had planned to contest on behalf of the INC, was denied a ticket due to the alliance's preference for the TDP. He contested as a BSP candidate on elephant symbol, which caused confusion among locals.

Kotha Ashok Goud, former Mandal Parishad president (MPPs) of Ibrahimpatnam mandal, joined the BJP before elections to gain community support and receive the party's ticket.

The TDP candidate, hailing from L B Nagar, was announced 15 days before the nominations, while the TDP+INC alliance chose an INC candidate from L B Nagar.

Current Situation

TRS: Sitting BRS MLA Machireddy is facing a surge of anti-incumbency sentiment. Kishan Reddy suffered losses in two municipalities and ZPTC in the recent municipal elections.
