14 labourers stuck in flash flood rescued in Jangaon

Fourteen agricultural labourers, who were stuck in a flood between Cheetah-Kannepalli villages of Lingala Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon, were rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in the early hours of Saturday.

HYDERABAD: Fourteen agricultural labourers, who were stuck in a flood between Cheetah-Kannepalli villages of Lingala Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon, were rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in the early hours of Saturday.

The labourers, who were returning from agricultural work in Kannaipalli village, could not cross Cheeturu Pedda Vagu and Chinna Vagu due to flash floods in the area. Not knowing what to do, they hid in a graveyard in Cheeturu village.

The local police rushed to Cheeturu and informed the higher authorities. Local Circle Inspector Vinay and police personnel carried out rescue operations from Friday midnight and rescued the labourers with the help of the NDRF team.

The fourteen labourers were identified as Nomula Prashanth, Nomula Srisailam, Ravikanti Narender, Ravikanti Vimala, Nomula Uppamma, Ila Uppamma, Ila Anjamma, Ila Sumalatha, Ila Lakshmi, Ila Somaiah, Aila Lachamma, Mahamud, Elishala Pramila, Ila Anjamma.
