446 candidates compete for each of 554 SI posts in Telangana

HYDERABAD: The much-awaited preliminary entrance test for the recruitment of police SIs (Sub-Inspectors) was conducted across Telangana on Sunday. The examination, which began at 10 am, went on till 1 pm across 503 centres in the state.

In Hyderabad, the entrance test was conducted in 20 examination centres. The entrance test was held amid elaborate arrangements put in place by the authorities to ensure its smooth conduct. As per the notification issued for the year 2022, a total of 554 vacancies for the junior police officer post will be filled up. In response to the notification, a staggering 2,47,217 aspirants have applied to test their ability and fortune.

Effectively, about 446 candidates are competing to grab each SI post on offer. Meanwhile, the authorities have strictly implemented the time rule for the entrance test, with no exemptions given to aspirants who arrived late at the examination centres.

A video from one of the test centres in Hyderabad showed a woman candidate hurriedly rushing inside right at the nick of time.
