HYDERABAD: The Government of Telangana, on Thursday appointed Anjani Kumar as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) of Telangana.

Anjani Kumar, a 1990-batch IPS officer will be holding the full additional charge of the post of Head of police force (HoPF) until his appointment is formalised as the full-fledged DGP.

He was Director-General of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Telangana from December 24, 2021. He has been awarded the United Nations Peace Medal twice, while serving with the United Nations Mission at Bosnia in 1998-99.

He will succeed M. Mahendar Reddy, who is retiring from service on superannuation on December 31 2022.

The State Government also issued orders of transfers of other IPS officers. Ravi Gupta, Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, is transferred and posted as Director-General, Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Dr. Jitender, Additional Director General of Police (L&O) Telangana, was transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department.

Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate, is transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, CID, Telangana.

Devendra Singh Chauhan, Additional Commissioner of Police (L&O), Hyderabad City, was transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, Additional Director General of Police (P&L), Telangana, was transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police (L&O), Telangana.
