HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday greeted Banda Prakash Mudiraj, who assumed charge as the new Vice-Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council. KCR, along with Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy and ministers including K T Rama Rao, led the new Vice-Chairman, who was unanimously elected, to the Chairperson's chair. Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister hailed Banda Prakash's services in the education sector and in politics, especially for his Mudiraj community. He wished him a wonderful tenure in his new position.

KCR said that he had personally requested Banda Prakash, who was serving as a Rajya Sabha Member, to come back to state politics. The Chief Minister thanked him for obliging his request and then accepting the BRS nomination as Legislative Council Vice-Chairman.

Ministers KTR, Mehmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who had a long association with Banda Prakash, were among those who wished the new vice-chairman the good luck and hoped for meaningful discussions cutting across party lines on various subjects under his auspices.

KCR promises stern action against adulteration of seeds

Earlier in the day, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) responded to a few queries raised during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly. On this occasion, he asserted that the State Government would take tough measures to prevent the menace of seeds adulteration. The Chief Minister also vowed to invoke Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) against those indulging in the seeds adulteration.

To another question, KCR spoke at length about his government's concept of introducing integrated vegetable and non-vegetarian markets in the state. Observing that there used to be only six to seven vegetable markets in Hyderabad despite its population size, he informed that modern markets would be built in all the Assembly constituencies. KCR said that the concept aimed to preempt the markets being run in unhygienic conditions, which has been happening for ages. The Chief Minister felt the need for a scientific approach even in organising these markets to minimise the risk from bacteria.

KCR said that he was amazed by the way the Nizam-era Monda Market was designed and it was showcased to all the district collectors as a model. He also said that he heard about a fabulous integrated market constructed at Narayanpet.
