MEDARAM: The BJP will implement 10 per cent reservation for tribals in education, employment and local body elections, said party State president G Kishan Reddy. He was in Medaram on Wednesday to offer prayers to the tribal deities of Sammakka and Sarakka.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing the establishment of a Central Tribal University in Mulugu in the same of Sammakka Sarakka, Kishan Reddy said that a sum of Rs 900 crore would be spent on the construction of the university.

“The Central Government is committed to the protection of the traditions and culture of the tribals. The Union Government will ensure that sacrifices of tribals in nation-building will be remembered forever,” he said.

He said that the Union Government would establish a Tribal Memorial Museum in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 25 crore and the Tribal Research Centre built at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore would be inaugurated very soon. He reminded the people of Mulugu that the Prime Minister took a special initiative to secure UNESCO recognition for the Rudreswara (Ramappa) temple in Mulugu district.

“In addition to these, the Central Government has established 17 new ‘Ekalvya’ Schools in Telangana at a cost of Rs 420 crore,” the State BJP president said. He said that special funds were allocated to areas thickly populated with tribals by recognising them as aspirational districts.

“Under this programme Centre has released Rs 37 crore for Bhupalpally, Asifabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem,” he added. Kishan Reddy said that the Mulugu-Laknavaram-Tadwai-Damaravai-Bogata waterfalls circuit was developed under Swadesh Darshan at a cost of Rs 80 crore. “Another Rs 92 crore is being spent to develop the Somasila, Singotam, Kadalivanam, Akkamahadevi, Egalapenta, Farahabad, Umamaheswaram and Mallelateertham eco-circuit," he added.
