HYDERABAD: Even as Hyderabad is gearing up for the state festival, Bonalu, the government has been making grand arrangements and has sanctioned Rs 15 crore. Not only Telangana but people from different parts of the world are waiting to welcome Bonalu celebrations this year.

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav reviewed the arrangements at a meeting organised at Mirchowk police station and said that the most glorious Bonalu festival in Telangana became universal. Not only in Telangana, but also in countries like the USA, London, Dubai and Australia, Bonalu festivals were being celebrated. The Bonalu festival was accorded the status of a state festival after the formation of Telangana state in 2014.

The state government officially takes part in this festival. As part of the festival, Bonalu is celebrated at Golconda Jagadamba temple on June 30, Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahakali temple on July 17 along with a grand procession, and celebrations at the Lal Darwaza Simhavahini Mahankali temple on July 24. A large number of devotees are expected to participate in the celebrations.

He thanked the Chief Minister for sanctioning the funds for the festival. The State government appointed a coordination committee with officials from GHMC, R&B, Medical and Health, Police, Traffic, Electricity and Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board.
