HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) followers all over the State displayed anger over the arrest of party MLC K Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate by organising protest marches holding flags and raising slogans against Narendra Modi’s Government at the Centre.

Responding to a call given by BRS working president KT Rama Rao and former Minister T Harish Rao, the BRS cadre in erstwhile Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Khammam, and Hyderabad took to the streets demanding justice for Kavitha.

In Suryapet the BRS workers staged a protest in front of the Telangana Talli statue. Protests were reported from mandal headquarters in the district. In Station Ghanpur former Minister Kadiam Srihari took part in a protest march and condemned the arrest of Kavitha. He sat on a dharna on the National Highway.

“This is nothing but an attempt by the BJP to beat BRS psychologically just before the elections,” he said calling upon all democratic forces in the State to condemn the arrest.

In Sircilla, BRS activists organised protest marches against the arrest of Kavitha. In Mortad of Balkonda Assembly Constituency BRS organised a ‘rasta roko’. They raised slogans against the ED and PM Narendra Modi. In many places in Hyderabad BRS cadre burnt the effigies of the BJP and the PM and raised slogans.

In Medak, ex-MLA Padma Devender Reddy led a dharna at the Ramdass Chowk and addressed the gathering. She said that the party would fight for justice legally. “This is nothing but murder of democracy. She demanded the release of Kavitha and challenged the BJP to fight it out with BRS in the ensuing elections.

Similar protests were conducted in Siddipet, Armoor, Bodhan, Borabanda (Hyderabad), Aswaraopet, Illendu, and Gangadhar mandal headquarters in Karimnagar.
