HYDERABAD: BRS MLC Kavitha has said that the BJP has deceived the people twice by not implementing its promise of women's reservation. Kavitha was responding to a tweet by Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy on Tuesday who questioned why women were not given enough seats despite Kavitha's protest in New Delhi earlier this year demanding reservation for women.

Kavitha questioned why the BJP, which had a big majority in Parliament, did not pass the women's reservation Bill. She demanded that the Centre bring the legislation.

Kavitha, backing her statement, said that there was an Act which provided reservations to women in local bodies which resulted in 14 lakh women becoming public representatives in the country.

"There will be no change in the situation unless an Act is brought to provide reservations. Let us see how many seats the Congress and the BJP will give to women. We understand your outburst. You want to snatch our leaders who did not get a ticket," Kavitha tweeted, asking Kishan Reddy to not link the tickets issue to women's reservation.

She recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had advocated increasing the Parliament seats thrice and giving reservations to women. She said that Kishan Reddy should answer to this.

Kavitha welcomed the 'concern shown' by Kishan Reddy on women's representation and hoped that someone from BJP would acknowledge her demand.
