HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Friday criticised Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's speech for not mentioning the decade-long development achieved by the previous Government.

Former Minister and Staion Ghanpur MLA Kadiam Srihari addressed media after the Governor presented her speech to a joint session of both Houses and compared it to the Congress manifesto.

“There was nothing new in her address. The new Government made no mention of how it would achieve development. The Governor’s address will serve only as an escape route for the Congress from the promises it made during the elections,” he said.

He pointed out that the Government tried to project that there was no development in the past ten years. Probably the Governor forgot that the NITI Aayog and the Union Government had time and again lauded several programmes implemented by the BRS Government, he added.

“What about the fact that Telangana topped the list of states in the production of paddy and achieved top position in IT exports,” the former Minister said. Condemning the comments of the Governor that her Government liberated Telangana, Srihari said it was the people of Telangana that achieved statehood by exerting pressure on the then Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.

“Telangana was liberated way back in 2014, not now. It was rather unfortunate that the Governor was made to lie by the Congress Government,” Srihari observed.

He pointed out that there was no mention of how the Congress Government would implement the six guarantees, how it would implement Dalit Bandhu, and when it would grant bonus for paddy.
