Car driver falls prey to own bravado, gets washed away in gushing Pedda Vaagu waters

SIDDIPET: A car driver who firmly attempted to cross the gushing Pedda Vaagu was washed away. The incident happened at Akkenapally in Nanganuru Mandal in Siddipet district on Friday night.

According to the reports, the Pedda Vagu on the Akkenapally-Baswapur route was overflowing due to incessant rains that lashed the district for the last few days. Due to this, vehicular movement had been suspended from the causeway on Pedda Vaagu for the last two days. However, locals noticed a car traveling on the Akkenapally route on Friday night.

Immediately, they alerted the car driver and prevented him from travelling on the causeway. The car driver left a deaf ear to the warnings given by the locals and firmly attempted to cross the gushing Pedda Vaagu. When the car did not cross the stream, the locals suspected some mishap happened to the car driver and immediately took the matter to the attention of the police.

A team of police personnel reached the spot and carried out a search operation to trace the identity of the car driver. However, their attempts to trace the car driver’s identity were not futile and the rescue operation has been stopped for the time being due to darkness on Friday. Rescue operations began on Saturday morning. Further details of the incident are awaited.
