SURYAPET: Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing the ‘Jana Garjana Sabha’ in Suryapet on Friday said that if voted to power in Telangana the BJP would install a Chief Minister belonging to the backward classes (BCs).

The Home Minister said that both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress party could bring development to Telangana because both believe in family-run politics. “While K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) wants his son KT Rama Rao to be the Chief Minister of Telangana, Sonia Gandhi wants the Prime Minister post for her son Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

In contrast, the BJP believed in the upliftment of the poor not the family, Amit Shah said. “The BRS is an anti-poor anti-dalit and anti-BC party. What happened to the Dalit CM promise and the three acres of land promise KCR made for the Dalits,” he questioned.

KCR promised a Rs 50,000 crore budget for Dalits and Rs 10,000 crore per annum assistance to the BCs, but he kept none of his words, Amit Shah pointed out. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi kept his promise and established a BC Commission. Bless BJP we bring a BC chief minister in Telangana,” Amit Shah declared.

He announced that the Prime Minister had already declared the establishment of the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University respecting the sentiments of the Scheduled Tribes. He announced the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal to address disputes in river water sharing and a turmeric board for the benefit of turmeric farmers of Telangana.

The Union Home Minister said that the Union Government gave Rs 6,000 per annum to 40 lakh farmers in Telangana under Kisan Samman Nidhi and Rs 5 per kilo of rice to 1.90 crore cardholders in Telangana.

He said that the BJP also kept its word as the Prime Minister would be inaugurating the grand Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by the end of January 2024.
