MULUGU: Devotees staged a dharna at Medaram and shouted slogans of "Seethakka, Chief Minister down down" after the police stopped the crowd from entering the shrine.

With a host of VIPs including Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Union Ministers, State Ministers and many VIPs visiting the Medaram Jathara on Friday, the police blocked the free movement of devotees. Scores of devotees were stopped for long periods of time from entering the shrine. This angered the devotees who started agitating and started arguing with the police. As the queues swelled, angry devotees raised slogans against local MLA Seethakka and Chief Minister chanting "Seethakka, Chief Minister down down."

When the police tried to pacify the crowd, it led to a clash between the police and the devotees. A few women and children were injured in the scuffle. Soon Seethakka reached out to the police and spoke to the devotees after which the situation returned to normalcy.
