HYDERABAD: BRS Siddipet MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao has criticised that the current Congress Government is more focussed on harassing the opposition instead of serving the people.

Speaking at a press conference after Patancheru BRS MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy’s younger brother, Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy was arrested by police on charges of illegal mining at Lakdaram, Harish Rao said, "The Congress party is filing cases against those who join other parties. It is attacking democracy by filing illegal cases against opposition MLAs."

Saying that the arrest was illegal, Harish questioned the police, "What was the need to arrest Madhusudhan with hundreds of people? Is he a criminal? Why did you arrest him without giving a copy of the FIR? The police should remember that power is not permanent."

Blaming the Congress for trying to intimidate opposition leaders, Harish said, "The Congress is trying to intimidate others to join them. The RDO himself said that they are conducting raids on the orders of a Minister. All this is being done by targeting BRS leaders. The Congress should instead focus on public issues. There is no drinking water in the villages and crops are drying up but they don't care. They want to just slander the opposition. We will fight a legal battle in this issue and punish the Congress."
