HYDERABAD: The Congress party has finally allotted Kothagudem Assembly seat in the old Khammam district to the Communist Party of India (CPI) after deliberating with them as per the directions of the AICC, said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy.

Revanth Reddy met the CPI leaders, including the State secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, at his office on Monday. During the meeting, the leaders chalked out the plans to be executed for the victory of the CPI in Kothagudem and the efforts to be kept in by the Congress leaders in this regard.

The TPCC chief said that the Congress promised to give two MLC tickets to the CPI after the formation of the Government in the State. “We have discussed the political pressures on the Congress and came to the conclusion of allotting Kothagudem's seat to the CPI. People should support the Communist leaders as their representation is much needed in the Assembly and Council also,” Revanth Reddy said.

CPI national secretary K Narayana said, “Our aim is to throw out Telangana from the hands of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The BRS, the BJP and the AlMIM are infusing religion into politics. The tacit understanding between the BJP and the BRS is the major reason for BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha not being arrested so far in the alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor scandal.”

The CPI leader said that the Congress rule in Chhattisgarh was good and alleged that the BJP was trying to polarise the elections on communal lines. Similar is the case with the BRS and the BJP in Telangana which were suppressing the voice of the opposition parties, he said.

Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said, “The alliance with the Congress is inevitable in Telangana as there are chances of the Congress forming the Government in the State. The BRS is emulating the ideology of the BJP and suppressing the voice of those questioning their irregularities. We are also hoping there will be some understanding with CPI (M) as well.”
