Congress is the enemy of Telangana, says KCR in Bodhan
The Chief Minister also criticised the Congress candidate Sudharshan Reddy who served as an Irrigation Minister didn't even get a single penny for the development of Nizamabad and Banswada.
BODHAN: BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Wednesday termed the Congress "a big enemy of Telangana" and reiterated how the party destroyed the riches of the State.
Addressing a massive public rally in Bodhan, KCR said, "I've been fighting for the welfare of Telangana for the last 24 years, how many years should I fight for the State? Now it's your turn to fight for Telangana." He said that he wouldn't be in a position to do anything if people elected the wrong leader.
Explained how Telangana was a prosperous State during Nizam and Kakatiya's reign, KCR asserted, "Telangana was a united State back then. Nizam and Kakatiya kings developed our State and constructed many projects and canals. But it was the Congress which merged our State with Andhra Pradesh against our wishes. In 1969 protests, nearly 400 people were shot dead. It was the Congress that was responsible for the downfall of Telangana and created a lot of problems for us."
The Chief Minister urged the public to vote for the BRS and added that the Congress candidates shouldn't be given even a single vote.
"The Nizam Sagar Project was constructed by Nizams long ago. Thousands of acres of land were irrigated in Banswada, Bodhan and the entire Nizamabad district. But under the Congress party's rule, the Nizam Sagar dried up and water from Sirpur project was diverted to Hyderabad. Nizam Sagar farmers faced many problems and all their agricultural lands dried up. After the BRS came to power, the Nizam Sagar project was restored and thousands of acres of land are now being irrigated," said KCR.
The Chief Minister also criticised the Congress candidate Sudharshan Reddy who served as an Irrigation Minister didn't even get a single penny for the development of Nizamabad and Banswada.
"But BRS MLA Shakeel worked for the construction of many canals and check dams in Bodhan and strived hard for the development of the constituency," he said.
The BRS president added that Maharashtra leaders are now asking him to either launch a new party in their State or merge Dharmabad with Telangana.
Hitting out at Congress leaders for their comments on supplying three hours of electricity and asking farmers to install 10 hp motors in the State, KCR said, "Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are not providing electricity round the clock but Telangana is the only State which is supplying power 24x7. There are beedi workers in 16 states. Not even a single Chief Minister thought of giving pensions for Beedi workers but we are giving pensions for them and it will be increased in a phased manner."
