HYDERABAD: Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah reiterated his party's commitment to scrapping the 4% reservation given to Muslims in Telangana if the BJP was voted into power at the Center for a third term.

Addressing a public meeting in Siddipet on Thursday to support the BJP's candidate from the Medak constituency, Raghunandan Rao, Amit Shah stated that the 4% Muslim reservation, implemented by Congress and BRS, was illegal. He announced that if the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP government would scrap the Muslim quota and reallocate it to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Backward Classes (BCs).

Amit Shah also accused Telangana's Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of depleting the state's treasury and claiming that Telangana had become the "ATM of Delhi's Congress leaders."

He further alleged that both the BRS and Congress were mired in corruption, which was why there had been no progress in investigating corruption cases involving the previous KCR government, such as the Kaleshwaram project and a land scam. Shah promised that if Narendra Modi was elected Prime Minister for a third term, Telangana would be freed from corruption.

Amit Shah criticised the BRS and Congress for not celebrating Telangana Liberation Day on September 17, accusing them of refraining from the celebration due to fear of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).

He expressed confidence that the BJP would win at least 12 seats in Telangana, including the Medak constituency. Shah stated that public sentiment in Telangana favoured Modi, and the electorate had decided to send a large number of BJP MPs from the state to the Center. He noted that Telangana would experience comprehensive development if the BJP won a third term at the Center.

Amit Shah also highlighted the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370 as significant achievements of the BJP government in the past decade.

During the meeting, some participants held a protest by holding the placards demanding Sahara payments. However, Amit Shah ignored them and continue with his speech.
