Degree student dies by suicide in SC hostel in Armur

NIZAMABAD: A third-year degree student died by suicide on the SC hostel premises in Armur town of Nizambad district on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as G Rakshitha, a native of Mendora mandal in the district.

According to reports, Rakshitha was studying third-year degree in Narendra Degree College. As per her daily routine, Rakshitha went to college and came back to the hostel in the night. She skipped her dinner with friends and straight away walked into her room. After almost half an hour, her friends tried to call Rakshitha over the phone to ask her to join for dinner. As she failed to respond, one of her friends, Farzana Begum, went to the room only to notice Rakshitha hanging from the ceiling by her chunni and in an unconscious state.

Fellow students immediately alerted the hostel management staff, who broke the door open and informed the police. She was rushed to a private hospital where the doctors advised the hostel management staff to take her to the local government hospital as her condition was critical. She was eventually pronounced dead by the doctors of the government hospital.

The dead body was later shifted to Armur government hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is going on to ascertain the reasons that drove Raskhita to the extreme step, the police said.
