HYDERABAD: The first list of candidates released by the Telangana BJP has disgruntled a few in the party especially in Sircilla as constituency leader Avunoori Ramakanth Rao resigned from the post of state executive committee member of the BJP.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ramakanth Rao expressed displeasure over the announcement of Rani Rudrama Reddy from Narsampet as the BJP candidate for Sircilla. He blamed the BJP for unilaterally taking that decision without recognising the sacrifices made by many activists in the constituency and for being dictatorial.

Stating that he had joined the BJP under the leadership of Bandi Sanjay after believing that it was a party with principles and committed leaders, Ramakanth Rao said that

the internal situation of the party was different compared to what it appeared. He said that he had left his job and worked hard for the party keeping his family aside but has been humiliated.

Rao said that he has lost faith in politics due to the BJP's internal politics and that the party leadership had giving an MLA ticket to a person who had no knowledge of the constituency or the region's problems.

"Though many national and state leaders had joined the BJP believing in the party's principles, Dr. Dasoju Shravan's resignation from the BJP is proof enough that many leaders have turned away because of the dictatorial attitude of the BJP," Rao asserted.

However, Ramakanth Rao requested the party not to betray the cadre and thanked his followers who believed and supported him.

The leader then joined the BRS in Hyderabad today.
