HYDERABAD: In a double whammy of sorts for the BJP in Telangana, former chairman of Telangana Legislative Council Swami Goud submitted his resignation from the saffron party on Friday. This was the second jolt in the day for the BJP as it came within hours of Dr Dasoju Sravan quitting the party. After submitting his resignation, Swami Goud went to Pragathi Bhavan and met Chief Minister and TRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) amid speculation that his re-entry into the pink party was only a formality now.

Coincidentally, both Sravan and Swami Goud – leaders from the weaker sections – chose to send their resignations to BJP Telangana unit president Bandi Sanjay. Like Sravan, Swami Goud too targetted Bandi Sanjay and the BJP's discrimination against leaders from the weaker sections.

In his handwritten resignation letter addressed to Bandi Sanjay, Swami Goud alleged that the BJP was only giving priority to wealthy leaders and big-time contractors while ignoring leaders like him who are committed to public service. He stated that he was unable to continue in the party due to the constant humiliation and ill-treatment meted out to him.

According to reports, Swami Goud, along with Dasoju Sravan, was expected to formally join the TRS in the presence of its working president K T Rama Rao at an event in Manneguda on Friday evening.
