HYDERABAD: BRS Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) has said that it was the BRS Government which had revived the power sector after 2014 which was otherwise in bad shape during the previous Congress regime.

Responding during the motion of thanks to Governor's speech in this Assembly session, KTR said, "During the Congress' regime, there were many reports of motors getting burnt, transformers exploding and voltage fluctuations. The electricity department was one of the worst departments handed over by the Congress in 2014. There was a deficit of 2,700 megawatts of electricity when Telangana was formed. About Rs 22,423 crore of debt was surrendered by the then Government. It was wrong to state the debts incurred by the BRS Government in the sector (in Governor's speech) without showing the assets it created," KTR said.

KTR went on to add that the Governor's speech was outrageous and full of lies which mentioned about how Telangana was destroyed in the last 10 years but did not speak about the destruction in the 50 years before.

"I feel ashamed as an MLA to listen to such a speech. We, as the opposition, have the responsibility to place the facts before the people. Not even a single Congress MLA spoke when 1.5 lakh people were suffering from fluorosis in Nalgonda which we rectified after coming to power. Babies were sold in Devarakonda, minor girls were getting married off, 14 lakh people were migrating to other cities from Palamuru every year. In Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's Kodangal constituency, two buses used to carry migrant labourers to Mumbai every day. The situation was similar in Narayanpet and Makhtal," he said.

Countdown begins for March 17: KTR

Questioning the Congress on the non-implementation of its six guarantees so far, KTR asked, "Why have you not implemented the six guarantees that you promised to fulfill in your first Cabinet? Now you are saying that the guarantees would be implemented in the next 100 days. We will remember that. The countdown for Congress begins."

KTR ended his speech by saying that the BRS would play the role of a constructive opposition and also support the Congress in the Parliament to question the BJP for its unfulfilled promises for the State.
