Fearing KCR’s Karimnagar visit Congress Govt switched on Kaleshwaram pumps: KTR in Mushampalli

NALGONDA: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has said that the Congress Government which has branded the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) as a failed project, has finally turned on the Nandi and Gayatri pumphouses and lifted water from Yellampalli for Karimnagar.

Speaking to the media after meeting with Ganneboina Mallaiah Yadav of Mushampalli village and the well-known Borla Ram Reddy, KTR said that the Congress Government pushed the State agriculture to the brink by delaying the lifting of water from KLIP.

“With K Chandrashekar Rao already visiting Nalgonda and planning to visit Karimnagar on April 5, the Congress Government hurriedly turned on the Nandi and Gayatri pump houses and lifted water from Yellampalli. If they had done this from the day after coming to power, they could have lifted 100 TMC,"he observed.

KTR said that the irrigation canal in Mushampalli was full last year as the water was available till the tail end under the Nagarjuna Sagar project and no farmer including Borla Ram Reddy had to sink an additional borewell. KTR recalled that he was moved by the plight of Mallaiah and met him today to assure him that KCR would move heaven and earth till the Government grants Rs 25,000 compensation per acre. “ I also just saw the failed borewells sunk by Borla Ram Reddy which depicted the state of affairs in the State under Congress Government,” KTR pointed out.

The former Minister said that the drought was induced by the indifferent attitude of the Congress Ministers who refused to lift available water to fill reservoirs, minor irrigation projects, and canals to save the standing crop. “Just to blame the former Government Congress played a dirty drama affecting the lives of lakhs of farmers,” KTR said.

Demanding an apology from the Government for ravaging the agriculture sector, he said that the BRS would fight to implement the Rs 500 bonus per quintal for paddy scheme and a Rs 2 lakh crop waiver as promised by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said that so far 200 farmers died by suicide in the State and urged the farmers not to resort to such drastic steps.

“While the farmers are desperate and looking for help, none of the Ministers or the Chief Minister reached out to them. The Chief Minister who had to arrange for party defections had no time to meet the farmers. The situation in the State is so bad that there was a power outage when CM went to BRS MP K Keshavara Rao’s house to invite him into the Congress,” KTR said.

He challenged Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to visit Mushampalli and convince the villagers that there was no power shortage and there was no shortage of irrigation or drinking water.
