HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said that arrangements were being made to conduct the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festivities without any hurdles in Khairatabad and other places of the city.

The Minister, on Wednesday, inspected the arrangements being made at Khairatabad in the wake of a few sporadic incidents in the city. He said that the Khairatabad Ganesha had a special recognition across the country and that lakhs of people, from different places, came for darshan.

The Khairatabad Ganesh idol was expected to be around 50-ft-tall this time. Devotees are expected to flock to it in lakhs like every time to catch a glimpse of the famous idol and offer prayers.

The minister asserted that all the arrangements would be put in place in time by the organisers for the convenience of the devotees. He said that six lakh clay idols would be distributed this year. The Minister said that, to avoid traffic issues for those living in the back area of Khairatabad, an alternative route from the Traffic Police Station near the IMAX theatre would be opened.

Responding to the attack on MLC Kavitha's residence, the Minister said that it was disturbing and distressing. He appealed to the people to maintain restraint and peace.
