Telangana Government's ambitious Haritha Haram program has significantly improved green cover, winning the 'World Green City Award - 2022'

HYDERABAD: Imagining a civilization without forests, the environment, or green cover is unreasonable, said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the occasion of Forest Martyrs' Day on September 11, 2023.

"Considering the importance of environmental preservation, the Telangana Government formulated action plans right after the state's formation, and today, we are witnessing the results of the government's commitment and perseverance in just a decade," said Chief Minister KCR in a message on the occasion of Forest Martyrs' Day.

He said, Telangana Government's ambitious Haritha Haram program has significantly improved green cover, winning the 'World Green City Award - 2022' from the International Association of Horticulture for its efforts. Our mission is to conserve nature amidst unbounded development and rapid technological advancements, addressing global warming through adequate protection measures for future generations.

The State forest department's commendable efforts are commendable, and we must work together to achieve the 33 percent green cover target in Telangana state, " said Chief Minister KCR.

Expressing his heartfelt tribute to the 22 forest martyrs who lost their lives in the discharge of their duties Chief Minister KCR said, "At the same time, 22 officers and staff of the Forest Department lost their lives in the discharge of their duties. My heartfelt tributes to all those martyrs who performed their duties on a mission mode to save forests, and their commitment is an inspiration to all of us. In order to keep their aspirations alive, we all should accomplish the Jungle Bachao, Jungle Badao' slogan with utmost dedication.
