HYDERABAD: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Telangana unit president Dr. RS Praveen Kumar resigned from the party on Saturday, blaming the BJP for sabotaging the alliance with the BRS.

Taking to X, the Bahujan leader said that he was forced to make a decision as the time to take a new path had arrived. “Please forgive me for this post and I have no choice left. With a heavy heart, I have decided to leave the BSP. I don’t want the image of this great party to suffer because of recent decisions (no matter how well-informed they are) in Telangana under my leadership,” he said.

He said that he would never compromise on certain core principles and personal character. “I shall not blame anyone and I also do not want to cheat those who trusted me,” he said adding that he always believed that keeping the alliance should be the top priority.

Praveen Kumar said that the BJP, which was unable to digest the historic alliance between the BRS and the BSP, had instigated the ED to arrest K Kavitha under a plan to sabotage the alliance.” I shall not forsake the values that I so dearly believe, nor can stop the journey that I have started,” he said.

He said that it was up to the Bahujan Samaj Party to decide the future course of action in Telangana. Praising Mayavati, the BSP chief thanked her for trusting and guiding him.

Later, Praveen Kumar reached the Nandinagar residence of BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao and explained the development.
