Harish Rao accuses Congress government of delaying Kalyana Lakshmi cheques
Harish Rao criticises Congress for delays in Kalyana Lakshmi cheques, demands swift implementation.
SIDDIPET: Former minister and MLA Harish Rao has accused the Congress government of delaying the distribution of Kalyana Lakshmi cheques, which he claimed were promptly released during the previous BRS regime.
Speaking to media persons in Siddipet on Thursday, Harish Rao stated that cheques were issued to beneficiaries within a month of the marriage under the BRS government. However, under the current Congress rule, it is taking months for the cheques to reach the recipients.
Harish Rao mentioned that he had to personally approach the High Court to ensure the distribution of cheques in Siddipet, as government officials were not cooperating. He reminded the public that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao started the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to provide financial assistance to poor families for their daughters' marriages. He criticised the Congress for allegedly trying to undermine the scheme.
He further demanded that the Congress government implement the promise made during the assembly elections to provide gold for Kalyana Lakshmi beneficiaries without delay. He also pointed out that the KCR Kit, given to mothers who deliver in government hospitals, has been halted.
