HYDERABAD: City Police Commissioner CV Anand IPS has said that the police have started preparations for the Ganesh idol immersions, which will start on Wednesday and go on till September 28, 2023. According to the Commissioner, over 50,000 idols could be immersed in the Hussain Sagar and other lakes in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

Sharing information on social media platform 'X', Anand said that his team toured the entire area from Telugu Talli to NTR Marg along with People's Plaza to measure the heights and clearances under the flyovers, the u-turns to be given, the directional flows of the idols of various sizes, and the of the cranes.

He appealed to everyone to cooperate with the administration in their efforts.

Earlier this week, Rachakonda Commissioner DS Chauhan suggested that the officers of all departments should work in tandem till the immersion was completed.

"All kinds of facilities like cranes, barricades, good water supply and lighting should be arranged at the ponds where immersion takes place. Only the GHMC officials and police should immerse the idols in the ponds and devotees who bring the idols should not be allowed to step into the immersion area," Chauhan said.
