NIZAMABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said that the Government would develop IT clusters for young men and women from minority communities if voted to power in the ensuing Assembly elections.

Addressing ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ in Nizamabad on Wednesday KCR said that the Government had been nurturing this idea for some time and would take permission from the Wakf board to establish IT clusters meant for minorities.

“I assure you that the State of Telangana will remain secular till KCR is alive. I urge both the Hindus and the Muslims to work in tandem for the development of the State,” KCR said. He pointed out that Telangana is the only State that officially organised Eid for Muslims and Christmas for Christians. Unlike the BJP, the BRS would never play a community against another community.

Urging the voters to consider what the two national parties the BJP and the Congress have done for them before voting on November 30, he said that the future would be of alliances at the Centre and the BRS would play an important role at the Centre.

KCR asked the voters to check the antecedents of the candidates before voting as there would be a political behind the candidate. “For 58 years Telangana suffered because the Congress party forcefully merged Telangana with Andhra. It is not the political party, the people must win,” the BRS chief said.

Attributing the near death of the Nizamsagar project at the hands of the Congress Government, KCR said that the then Congress Government built the Singur project above the Nizamsagar which was built by the Nizam kings in the eighteenth century rendering it dry like a bone.

“After you voted us to power in 2014 we ensured that Kaleshwaram water reached Nijamsagar and restricted Singur to Medak district. Now there is year-long water in Nizamsagar, “ he added.

He said that the BRS Government ensured the overall development of Nizamabad with frequent doses of funds. “Soon the ‘Indur Kalabharati’ auditorium which is being built at a cost of Rs 50 crore will be ready for inaugural. An IT hub was inaugurated in Nizamabad and we will do more in that direction,” he assured. He pointed out that big IT companies were showing interest in the two-tier cities of Telangana due to the availability of quality power.

He said that all the beedi workers in the State would receive Rs 5,000 pension, and he would extend the coverage for those who joined the beedi workforce after 2014.

Kaleshwaram revived Medak

Addressing the fourth public meeting on Wednesday at Medak the Chief Minister said that the region once endured drought frequently due to dried up Manjeera river and the Ghanpur Anicut was revived with water from Kaleshwaram. “Now we have Mallannasagar reservoir above us to save Medak,” he said.

Criticising the Congress for reiterating its stand of three-hour power supply to agriculture, KCR wanted to know who would purchase 30 lakh pump sets with 10 hp capacity that Revanth Reddy was talking about.

He urged the Medak voters to decide whether they would vote for BRS candidate Padma Devender Reddy or Congress candidate Raji Reddy. “Who will serve you better, my daughter Padma Devender Reddy or the scarecrow of Congress candidate,” KCR said in a lighter vein.
