Jawan releases video of bribery by Rangareddy Tehsildar officer, demands action

HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a record assistant working at Kondurgu Tehsildar office in Rangareddy district has allegedly demanded a bribe from a Jawan for issuance of land Record of Rights (ROR) pahani document. The incident came to light after the victim released a video message briefing over the injustice he was met by the staff of the MRO office.

The Record of Rights (ROR-1B) register is maintained in the revenue department for every village separately. Pahani is a revenue record that contains all the details of a land.

According to the details, a Jawan, identified as Ashok Reddy from Viswanathapur village in Kondurgu mandal in Rangareddy district, approached the MRO office and submitted an application seeking ROR Pahani. However, officers demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 to process his application.

Ashok Reddy, who was adamant at first, was compelled to give a bribe of Rs 30,000 to record assistant Balaraju. He video recorded the whole incident. Later, Ashok who was off to his duties, released a selfie video explaining the details accusing record assistant of demanding bribe. He demanded demanding swift action against corrupt authorities and submitted the video of the incident over the way he was extorted.

Meanwhile, the locals express concerns over the involvement of a private person in dealing with the land records.
