MAHESWARAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Telangana will prosper only by bringing a ‘double engine’ Government and a vote for the BRS is nothing but a vote for the Congress.

Addressing an election public meeting at Maheswaram in Ranga Reddy district on Saturday, the Prime Minister explained that KCR and the Congress act as if they were opponents but were good old friends of at least four decades.

“KCR belongs to the Congress school of politics. He started his political journey with the Congress. He was Cabinet minister in the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, the BRS voted against President Droupadi Murmu’s candidature and also against the Vice President candidate along with the Congress, and BRS was with the Congress in the recent no-confidence motion against us,” Modi said.

But it was the BJP that defeated the BRS in the Huzurabad and Dubbaka by-elections. The BJP almost defeated the BRS in the GHMC elections, the Prime Minister said, adding that the BJP was the only common enemy both the BRS and the Congress had in Telangana. He recalled that the Congress candidate that the Maheswaram Assembly constituency elected later shifted loyalty to the BRS.

“The only friend you have is the BJP. Modi will fulfill your dreams. Those politicians and analysts who sit in AC rooms in Delhi can’t give you an accurate prediction, but I can see that the confidence of people in the BJP is increasing day by day,” Narendra Modi said. He said that the State which was endowed with turmeric, talent, tradition, and technology, had failed to take off because of a corrupt Government led by KCR.

“Underdevelopment of a region reflects the utter negligence of leaders. Maheswaram has suffered from a shortage of water as well as flood water. The people here face drinking water problems. But the BJP will find a solution,” the PM said, alleging that both the BRS and the Congress hate development politics.

He said that they use negative, abusive language, particularly against him. “They like vote bank politics and appeasement of certain sections. For the BJP, everyone is alike, ‘sab ka sath sab ka vikas, and believes in 100 percent saturation of welfare schemes. BJP shows no favouritism,” the PM said.

Calling upon the Telangana voters to demolish the arrogance of the Congress, he said that the then AICC president Seetharam Kesri, who is a BC was physically shunted out of the Congress headquarters unceremoniously. “But the BJP will make a BC as a Chief Minister of Telangana if voted to power,” Modi added.

Assuring the voters that the BJP would ensure a reduction of fuel prices after coming to power in Telangana, stated that the financial health of the State was so bad that the BRS Government wasn’t able to pay pensions and salaries in time. He said that a double-engine Government was the need of the hour as the BRS Government was obstructing the implementation of most of the centrally sponsored welfare schemes.
