KCR decides to release water to Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal from Friday to save Paddy Crops

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to have water releases to the paddy fields under Nagarjuna Sagar left canal from Friday by utilising Telangana share in river Krishna water.

Following requests from ministers and Legislators on the risk of withering paddy crops due to deficit rainfall under Nagarjuna Sagar command area in Nalgonda and Khammam districts, the Chief Minister m held a high-level review meeting with officials of state Irrigation Department on Thursday.

KCR discussed the issue of providing irrigation water to paddy crops under Nagarjuna Sagar left canal.

The Chief Minister said that water would be released for another round of wetting after another 20 days. KCR called upon the farmers to save the paddy crop by using irrigation water judiciously due to lack of rains and shortfall of water reserves in Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir.

In the wake of release of Nagarjuna Sagar left canal water , the Chief Minister suggested that the ministers and legislators of the respective districts and assembly constituencies should monitor the release of water ensuring every ayacut of the farmers receive irrigation facility.
