HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to alert all the departments concerned and take quick safety measures in the wake of incessant rains in the State. He asked the Chief Secretary to hold video conferences with district collectors and asked Natural Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) to alert rescue teams in the flood prone areas.

In view of the Red Alert in Telangana and Maharashtra, the Chief Minister said that he would review the situation from time to time and also hold video conference today (Saturday) or tomorrow (Sunday). He said that the Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Local Body representatives and people representatives should be alert in their respective areas. KCR called upon people representatives to help in rescue operations and ensure no damages occurred.

The Chief Minister appealed to people not to venture out of their homes unless there is an emergency and take self-precautions.

In the wake of heavy inflows and flooding of River Godavari and Pranahitha, KCR alerted the state's irrigation officials and instructed them to take necessary steps.

KCR deferred "Revenue Awareness Programme" with Ministers, MLAs and Collectors which were scheduled at Pragati Bhavan on July 11.
