KARIMNAGAR: “Telangana needs the BRS more than ever, right now. I am shocked at what has happened to the State in just three months of the Congress coming to power. No one can take Telangana people for a ride.”

This was the sharp observation of former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as he sounded the poll bugle for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

KCR was speaking at the 'Kadana Bheri' public meeting at the SRR Government Degree College Ground here on Tuesday to launch the BRS campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. It was at this very location that KCR had addressed his first meeting after forming the TRS (now BRS) in 2001.

Reflecting this event in history, KCR said, "Telangana was in dark ages and was a region with no direction. During that time, the word Telangana was not even spoken around in whispers in the State Assembly. But I had resigned from my posts then. I wanted to begin a people's movement and that's what I did from this very college in 2001. Karimnagar made me an MP and then we managed to make Telangana State a reality. The rest is history."

KCR then went on to question the broken promises of the Congress Government made ahead of the Assembly elections.

"Unfortunately, people believed the lies of the Congress and voted them to power. They promised heaven to the people. They promised more benefits under Rythu Bandhu, Kalyana Lakshmi. But today when we question the Chief Minister about their six guarantees, he is talking about turning into human bombs. Is this the language of a Chief Minister? Does any Chief Minister come for a treasure trove? I never spoke disrespectfully when I was on that chair for 10 years," said KCR.

"We are not jealous of the Congress Government. We want you to perform better than us. We gave Rythu Bandhu even during Corona crisis. Remember when I said that if I don't implement Mission Bhagiratha, don't vote for us. That was our commitment," he added.

KCR wondered what happened to the 24-hour power supply and lush green palm fields. Mentioning the issues faced by the people in Telangana, he said, "The Congress promised bonus which has become bogus. Today, there are electricity and water problems in Telangana. I don't understand how this happened. If this is the situation in March, I can't imagine what will happen in April and May. That is why you need to vote for the BRS to rectify this. The Congress has not fulfilled its promises. Tomorrow, if you vote for them again in Lok Sabha, they will become arrogant. Let's vote for BRS MPs who will raise their voice for the people.

"It was the KCR Government that first stated thinking about farmers and introduced Rythu Bandhu for the first time in the country. The Congress promised bonus for Yasangi crop. Did you receive it? No. Their only aim currently is to criticise KCR. Bandi Sanjay is the MP here. Did he do anything? When Vinod Kumar was the MP, he fought for Karimnagar and got the smart city project. Did Bandi Sanjay do anything like that?" questioned KCR.

KCR also took strong exception to police acting on social media critics. He claimed that his Government never did that.

Promising to address the ongoing controversy surrounding the Kaleshwaram project, KCR said, "I will speak in TV in a couple of days about Kaleshwaram. I am disappointed over the needless controversy surrounding it. Only two out of 300 pillars sagged but the Congress is making mountain out of a mole hill as if the entire country is getting drowned."

Concluding his speech, KCR said, "Today, the Congress leaders are only making trips to Delhi. The Chief Minister is giving up his self-respect. The Government doesn't have the guts to implement the schemes. Don't worry, people. The BRS will raise the people's voice in the Parliament. The pink flag will never cease to exist.

"Had BRS won Telangana this time, I would have set the country on fire. I just suffered a setback. I'll face it and stand up again," KCR said.

Giving his take on a few leaders jumping to other parties, KCR said, "BRS is an eternal party that will last as long as earth and sky exist. When a few leaders left the party, they were spreading canards that it is all over for the BRS. If four leaders crossed over to other parties, nothing will happen to BRS."
