HYDERABAD: Remembering Late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his 102nd birth anniversary on Wednesday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) said that PV Narasimha Rao was a ‘great son of the soil’,who rescued the country during the crisis.

The Chief Minister said that the fruits of the economic reforms introduced by the former Prime Minister were being enjoyed today by the people of the country. “India's greatness has been preserved through many reforms brought by PV Narasimha Rao. The Telangana government was officially celebrating the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister, commemorating his service and greatness. PV Narasimha Rao was the pride of Telangana. The State would move forward in the direction of development-drawing inspiration from a great leader,” KCR said.

Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy paid tributes to PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary at his camp office in Nalgonda. He recalled that the Telangana Government had organized PV centenary celebrations grandly and unveiled his statue in the heart of Hyderabad. A statue of the great leader would also be unveiled soon in Nalgonda town, he said.

Meanwhile, people’s representatives of various political parties also paid rich tributes to the former Prime Minister at PV Gnananabhoomi on Necklace Road. PV Narasimha Rao’s daughter and MLC Vani Devi, along with her other family members, paid tributes to the former Prime Minister. Vani Devi said that PV Narasimha Rao was respected by KCR even though the Congress party ignored him. The State Government had given due respect to the son of the soil by celebrating his birth anniversary on a grand note, the MLC said.

Ministers Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Satyavathi Rathod also paid tribute to PV Narasimha Rao at PV Gnananabhoomi and recalled the services rendered by the great leader to the country and Telangana. Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the Central Government should confer the country's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, on PV Narsimha Rao. Bharat Rastra Samithi (BRS) was fighting with the Centre in this regard, he claimed.

At Gandhi Bhavan, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of former Prime Minister TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar Goud, senior vice president Kumar Rao, Secunderabad DCC President Anil Yadav, NRI cell chairman Vinod Kumar, TPCC official spokesperson K Sujatha and other leaders were also present. At the Legislative Council, deputy chairman B Prakash, Assembly chief whip Vinay Bhaskar and other leaders paid tributes to PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary.
