HYDERABAD: BRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) called upon party workers to take up protest programmes in the constituency centres across the state on Thursday against the Government's anti-farmer policies.

"The Congress government, which announced a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy before the end of the parliamentary elections, is once again deceiving, and cheating the farmers of the state," KCR said in a statement here on Wednesday.

KCR condemned the anti-farmer policies of the Congress government in the state. "About 90 percent of the farmers in the state are engaged in paddy cultivation. The state government too has said this. The Congress government has once again cheated the farmers of Telangana by giving bonus to only fine variety paddy," he said.

KCR said that Revanth Reddy who needed the votes of the farmers, kept his mouth shut. “Before the elections, the Congress used to say that it is for small farmers. People are still angry. The Congress government is fooling the farmers by all means. That is why the BRS party has decided to launch protests across the state to guarantee the rights of the farmers. "KCR said.

He urged the BJP workers to stand with the farmers. He alleged that the Congress Government was ignoring the farmers by not allowing them to sell paddy at the procurement centres.

KCR called upon the farmers to stand in support of the farmers and go to “Vadla Kallalakadiki’ every day along with the scheduled protest programmes to assure farmers of the state. KCR reiterated that the BRS party would always stand by the farmers to protect their rights.
