KCR to play caretaker role to protect interests of Telangana, demands speedy completion of Yadadri power plant

SURYAPET: Former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that he will continue to play the caretaker role to protect the interests of the people of Telangana and assured that he will go to any extent to save the farmers from the drought-like situation prevailing in Nalgonda district.
“For decades Congress made you drink contaminated Musi water. After the BRS came to power we gave you potable water through Mission Bhagiratha. Unfortunately, the Congress Government has no clue on how to operate Mission Bhagiratha,” KCR said addressing a meeting here on Wednesday night.
Recalling the development initiatives undertaken by him during the ten years of his Government, he said that Suryapet was developed through Palle and Pattana Pragathi programmes, and a new Medical College was established here. “Over 2.5 lakh acres were irrigated in Suryapet and Tungaturti. Now over 225 farmers died by suicide in the State after Congress took over,” KCR pointed out.
He questioned the Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy whether he could deliver what was expected from him. “Farmers lived like kings during our tenure. They produced 3.5 crore tons of paddy. But you left 60-70 TMC of water from Kaleshwaram into the sea and surrendered Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam to KRMB,” KCR pointed out.
Highlighting the indifferent attitude of the Congress Ministers, KCR said that over 135 school children fell due to food poisoning and thousands of weavers were pushed into distress by not ordering Batukamma, Ramzan and Chrstmas tofa orders to powerlooms.
Earlier at Tipparthi, KCR demanded speedy completion of the Yadadri Damaracharla power plant. “The good news is that the project has received environmental clearance and it is up to the State Government to complete the project at the earliest,” KCR said. He blamed the Congress Government for the acute shortage of drinking and irrigation water in the district.
On the way to Suryapet at Nakirekal, he urged people to elect Kyama Mallesh the BRS Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha candidate.
