HYDERABAD: In a big shock the the Telangana BJP, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who joined the saffron party around 15 months ago, has now resigned and is all set to join the Congress again.

It is being reported that Rajagopal would fly to New Delhi and would join the Congress in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. Sources cite that Rajagopal Reddy is expected to contest from Munugodu constituency on a Congress ticket.

While announcing the decision to quit the party, Rajagopal said that the BJP failed to emerge as an alternative to ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

In a letter to media, Rajagopal said, "The BJP, which emerged as an alternative to the ruling BRS in Telangana a year-and-a-half ago, has somewhat compromised its position in subsequent political developments. Now the people of Telangana are looking at the Congress as an alternative to the ruling BRS. That is why I also decided to act according to the wishes of Telangana people.

"Political equations in the State have changed as the desire of people that the Center should take action against the corrupt K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) Government has not been fulfilled. As the BJP could not grow as an alternative to the ruling BRS, the Congress took its place. I never aspired for positions, I aspired only for the protection of the interests of Telangana. I request people of the State to support me as I join the Congress to end the dictatorial KCR's rule," he said in his letter.
