HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K. Tarakara Rama Rao asserted that less than three months after the elections, individuals who had voted for the Congress expressed regret over their decision.

Addressing BRS party meetings in Amberpet and Ibrahimpatnam on Tuesday, KTR alleged that people felt deceived by the Congress Government due to the non-fulfillment of election promises. He stated that Congress leaders had made several commitments to the people, giving a false impression that they would fulfill everyone's needs. However, post-election, the Congress Government retracted from its promises, stating that only a few would receive certain benefits.

KTR highlighted that there were 1.67 crore women above the age of 18, and as promised, the Congress Government was supposed to provide them with a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500. He criticised Congress leaders for remaining silent on this promise. Similarly, there were 1.37 crore domestic power connections across Telangana, and all were supposed to receive free electricity up to 200 units. Instead, the Congress Government imposed certain conditions, reducing the number of beneficiaries by more than half. KTR expressed that the people would have rejected Congress if these conditions had been disclosed during the election campaign. However, he accused the Congress of misleading the public to secure their votes.

The BRS Working President emphasised that the people of Telangana had entrusted the BRS party with the responsibility of being the main opposition, and it would fulfill this duty with total integrity and dedication. He debunked the notion that BRS was a weak opposition, citing their victory in 39 seats. Moreover, out of the 24 seats in Greater Hyderabad, BRS secured 16, with MIM winning seven seats and BJP securing just one in Gosha Mahal. Therefore, KTR asserted that the people of Greater Hyderabad had given BRS a significant responsibility to represent their issues.

KTR urged BRS activists to expose the false promises made by the Congress to the people, emphasising that there was no question of sparing the Congress leaders for unkept promises. He claimed that only BRS could safeguard the interests of Telangana's people and called upon the party cadre to strengthen their network, visit all households, and expose the betrayal by the Congress Government. He urged the party cadre to ensure the BRS party's victory in most seats in the past Lok Sabha elections.
