HYDERABAD: Telangana IT Minister K.T Rama Rao has assured the students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT) Basra of immediate redressal of their grievances.

Students of the RGUKT in Basara went on a flash-strike on Tuesday demanding infrastructure, good faculty, a full-time vice-chancellor, etc.

Following their instantaneous protest on the campus on Tuesday. A student, Teja Goud, tweeted about the protest and tagged the minister. KTR responded immediately and assured the students of necessary action would be taken to resolve their problems. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy would be immediately alerted about the issue and that they would definitely deal with their concerns.


Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy also responded and said that the matter would be taken care of. She tweeted, "I have called for a meeting with the concerned VC today (sic) regarding the matter. We will resolve all relating issues ASAP."

Students of the RGUKT held a sit-in inside the campus demanding better infrastructure for the varsity. They said that the university's student intake had increased drastically. However, there was no change in the infrastructure. They appealed for the appointment of a full-time Vice-chancellor and for an appropriate student-teacher ratio. The students also said that the college mess and hostels were not properly maintained and that the monopoly in their management needed to be eliminated. They have also asked for proper infrastructure in classrooms and the library.
