HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has said that people of Telangana who have been cheated by the Congress in the past four months are ready to teach a befitting lesson in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Taking to X on Sunday, KTR said that the ‘Jaa Jatara’ public meeting addressed by Rahul Gandhi at Tukkuguda on Saturday was nothing but a ‘festival of lies and broken promises'.

“Rahul Gandhi cheated people with six guarantees before Assembly elections and now unveiled a new drama in the name of justice. You deceive people of Telangana and now talk about justice,” KTR pointed out.

Holding the Congress Government responsible for the suicides of farmers in the State, KTR said that the unfulfilled promises made by the Congress resulted in the death of 209 farmers in the State. “Congress promised heaven on earth before elections. Now people are driven to veritable hell,” he observed.

He said that the people of Telangana were left to fend for themselves in the absence of quality power, potable water, crop loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa financial input, irrigation, and the promises made to women. “Can you hear Mr. Rahul Gandhi the cries of the farmers whose crops were dried up, the weavers who have no work in hand, and farmers without finance for the next crop? Will you ask the Revanth Reddy Government to implement the crop loan waiver which was supposed to be implemented on December 9 last year,” KTR asked.

Ridiculing the caste-based census promised by Rahul Gandhi, the BRS leader said that Congress was the reason for backwardness of BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities in the country. He said that the new election plank wouldn't help the party to win the elections. “Because people of Telangana realised that they made a mistake by believing the ‘Bhasmasura’, a demon. People are ready to teach Congress a lesson,” KTR said.

KTR also tagged a news item about the death of two farmers by suicide. Bancha Mahender (35) of Variguntam village, Kolcharam mandal, Medak district, died by hanging himself after his 2-acre paddy crop dried up. He resorted to suicide after the borewell he sunk for Rs 3 lakh also failed.

Kota Kurva Srisailam (30) of Maddigatla village in Mahbubnagar district, died by suicide by hanging himself when no one was at home. He spent Rs 1.50 lakh to sink two boreholes. His total debt rose to Rs 6.50 lakh. Following this he took the drastic decision.
