KHAMMAM: Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao lashed out at the Congress for questioning the credibility of the BRS Government which is providing a 24-hour power supply to farmers, which has never happened in the past seven decades in Telangana.

Addressing a public gathering after participating in various development programs in Khammam on Saturday, KTR criticised the Congress saying that during its six-and-a-half year decade rule, the Congress had failed on all fronts to provide essential services to the people of Telangana, such as water, electricity, pensions and assistance to the underprivileged. People had faced a harrowing time during the Congress regime with the non- availability of water for drinking and agricultural needs. “In what capacity, the Congress leaders are questioning the credibility of the BRS Government which laid an emphasis on agriculture, electricity and ensuring water supply to the people, unlike the Congress,” KTR said.

Outlining the six potential consequences if the Congress were come to power, KTR said that farmers would definitely face power shortages and fertiliser supply, while people would suffer because of water scarcity, frequent changes in the Chief Minister, deterioration of Gram panchayats, and a decline in the quality of education and healthcare access. “The Congress is a warranty-less party. People should think wisely in extending their support to the Congress which is offering empty guarantees in Telangana without a credible track record,” he said.

The MA&UD Minister also called upon the people of Khammam to take note of the progress made by the BRS Government in Telangana since its inception and urged them to avoid the Congress offering empty guarantees in the State. Highlighting the welfare done to Khammam by the BRS Government, he said that Gollapadu channel, which was utterly neglected during the Congress regime, was now renovated. Apart from that, as many as 11 parks were developed around it and made them accessible to the public. After Hyderabad, Khammam was also facilitated with the second largest bus station in Telangana, he said.

KTR also said that the State Government was committed to ensuring drinking water supply for the people. In this regard, around 50,000 new drinking water connections were given to the people of Khammam under the Mission Bhagirath scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore. Steps were also being taken to develop Khammam as the first municipal corporation in Telangana to provide 24/7 drinking water supply, he said.
