HYDERABAD: In one of the first reactions to the Karnataka Assembly election results 2023, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and IT Minister K T Rama Rao on Saturday thanked the electorate of the neighbouring state for ‘rejecting ugly and divisive politics’. He also downplayed the possibility of the impact of this election result on Telangana.

KTR, who is currently on a visit to the United Kingdom (UK), reacted to the verdict delivered by the voters of Karnataka overwhelmingly in support of the Congress party and handing a humiliating drubbing to the ruling BJP in the process. While extending his best wishes to the victorious Congress party in Karnataka, he hoped that both Hyderabad and Bengaluru would indulge in a healthy competition in beckoning investments and creating infrastructure for the larger benefit of the country.

The BRS Working President nipped in the bud the suggestions that the Karnataka election result would have its bearing in Telangana which will be going to polls in about six months from now. In a political simile of sorts and a veiled attack at the BJP, KTR said that there would be no impact of Karnataka election results on Telangana just like the film ‘Kerala Story’ had no influence on the people of the Kannada state.

“Just the way Kerala Story failed to amuse people of Karnataka, similarly Karnataka election results will have NO bearing on Telangana

Thanks to the people of Karnataka for rejecting ugly & divisive politics 🙏

Let Hyderabad and Bengaluru compete healthily for investments & creating infrastructure for the greater good of India 🇮🇳

My best wishes to the new Congress Govt in Karnataka,” read KTR’s tweet.

KTR’s poke at the saffron brigade did not go unnoticed especially in the wake of accusations that the critically-acclaimed film, The Kerala Story, was designed and timed to sway the Karnataka electorate ahead of the Assembly elections and ensure rich political dividends to the BJP in the state.
